Not sure where July is gone. I am pretty certain it only started a week ago or so.
And yet...
Thank goodness I have stones marking each day!

Pizza still hot from the oven.
Inhaling warm flour dust – gluten junkie.
New fountain pen gliding on smooth paper
The infinite pleasure of forming letters by hand.
Learning the joy of “a” all over.
A concert for lunch
Some unseen bird playing the kazoo.

Watching clouds race across the blue
Painting figures all the way
Living pictures nearly devoid of drama.
The cicadas spread their wings
Their song adding a layer of heat-driven gravity to the world.
Raindrops
Each catching whatever light is on offer
Each a little lamp shining upon the world.

Caramel bubbling away on the stove
Warm buttery scent
Most of the pleasure is anticipation
Uneven paper
Catching ink in tiny waves
The watercolour sky becoming a sea.
A living fur coat wrapped across my lap
Taken by her purring rhythm
I dare not tell her that it is warm out.
A River of Stones - July 2011 edition - is finished but do not forget to keep on looking for beauty in the details.
That's not always were the devil is hiding.
