Perhaps it was just a sign of times
That day
I failed to recognize your voice.

I did however recognise your words
Familiar truncated phrases
Emoticons
To fit with characters restrictions

But your voice somehow…
A remote stranger’s tone
Faceless
Asking me to come home.

Perhaps we allowed ourselves
To get lost in a virtual place
Remote
Savouring the lack of walls

A prison of our own device
Where families are just elective
Followers
No one using their phone to call

I did not know what to say
I hung up too quickly I know
Embarrassed
