In Sarnano's cemetery, graves have chains locking stones in place. Visitors smile and talk of vampires, but the warden has lost a cardinal!

He had the crypt's entrance stone dug up and the tomb looked for. It had disappeared! The grave was still there but had other tenants.

Cardinal Costanzo Torri (1529-1595) might have had fame as a serious scholar but it looks like his ghost loves playing tricks on the living.

It's too easy to imagine him courting some nearby deceased lady, sneaking into her grave under cover of night for a kiss and a cuddle.

Then the mind flies to the foreign bodies found inside his own grave and one has to wonder about the shenanigans going on in the graveyard.

Could it be that the famed thermal waters of Sarnano have such an effect on the deceased? The living do not look quite that frisky...

By the way, that famous Cardinal was also called Costanzo “Boccafuoco". Some say because he was a good teacher. I'm thinking "hot lips".

That's one of the facts:

They keep the graves chained shut
