Poetry everywhere you look
The other Sunday, I was in Rome fairly early and stumbled upon the Chapel Of Santa Barbara, which I had only ever seen closed.
But Sunday being Sunday (and therefore potentially mass days), it was open!

So, of course, I immediately sneaked in, hoping there wouldn't be a mass to disturb with my sightseeing.
The good news was that there wasn't.
The bad news was that the decoration was rather underwhelming.

I am hearing you frown and remark "But! But! But! There is no butt in this!?!"
And indeed, there were just a few faded skulls.
But the words caught me eyes, in particular "Liber" and "Bibliopolis".
I worked my Latin through this but could not quite get the meaning I was hoping to find, my Latin being old - nay, antic even - and decrepit.
So I put the question out to Twitter and, soon enough, my friend Ticia returned a wonderful translation:
"The volume of eternity is unrolled so long as we are with our companions in the City of the Book"
This is beautiful enough if taken in its literal religious contest, but imagine my delight as book worshipper!
As we are wont to say on Twitter: #myvicarisalibrarian
