Not sure where July is gone. I am pretty certain it only started a week ago or so.
And yet...

Thank goodness I have stones marking each day!

Pizza still hot from the oven.
Inhaling warm flour dust – gluten junkie.

New fountain pen gliding on smooth paper
The infinite pleasure of forming letters by hand.
Learning the joy of “a” all over.

A concert for lunch
Some unseen bird playing the kazoo.

The one that escaped

Watching clouds race across the blue
Painting figures all the way
Living pictures nearly devoid of drama.

The cicadas spread their wings
Their song adding a layer of heat-driven gravity to the world.

Raindrops
Each catching whatever light is on offer
Each a little lamp shining upon the world.

Rainy day

Caramel bubbling away on the stove
Warm buttery scent
Most of the pleasure is anticipation

Uneven paper
Catching ink in tiny waves
The watercolour sky becoming a sea.

A living fur coat wrapped across my lap
Taken by her purring rhythm
I dare not tell her that it is warm out.

A River of Stones - July 2011 edition - is finished but do not forget to keep on looking for beauty in the details.
That's not always were the devil is hiding.

Sugar and ice crystal melting
A slow apocalypse
A burst of tastes.

Cool morning for the first time since weeks
Enjoy the pleasure of breakfast in the garden

Tea with a well travelled Michel Déon

Storm
Drawing evanescent lace on the midnight sky.

The smile of Buddha
Cools down the heat from Tom Yum Goong

Lemon jelly
Fragrant of garden spree.

Roasted Oats Tea

A barley can be found
Sipping peace at last
In toasted barley tea.

Hovering bee circling lavender
Drawing love letters with its wings
The smell of June, pregnant with sweet fig scent basking in the sun.

A perfect statue
Survivor of centuries
Its smile still contagious.

At Doozo

The smell of baking cake,
Promise of shared pleasure.

The wine tasting session smells of night, bitter almond and elder-flowers. It is full bodied and mentally addled, offers a good persistence of flavours, with a full bouquet of laughter and shared time between friends.

The fountain’s murmur soothes the mind before water can cool the body.

feral kitties

When even breathing is painful in the heat, my cat's effort at welcoming purr is cooling to the soul.

Smiling faces
Worshipping light
Sunflowers
A feral rose bush
Like a red street light
Arresting the eye.

Olive trees like tango partners
Frozen in their dancing throes.

Dancing trees

Pitter-patter in the garden
Wet paw tattoos on the kitchen tiles.

Pyrolysis
I watch fat particles
Explode in pin point fireworks

Storms roll in, bearing scents
Hot tarmac and fig trees, pepper.

Stormy afternoon

The stormy sky puts on a freak show
Teal tainted clouds over a greenish sky.

Each grain of sand a unique treasure
A small, delicate yet sturdy universe stuck between our toes.

Wandering in the gloom,
Collecting love messages from strangers for a stranger,
Sending gifts to one who is sick,
Dreaming of the end of the world.

The end is nigh

A lunch time escapade reveals all:
There are trees blooming along my still dark mornings.

Early morning gale.
Wind through the trees sounds like waves.
Has the house unmoored?

And find the air sweet
To feel alive and not guilty for this.

Much anxiety drowns in old wine
As well as a good deal of Cartesian reality.
